THE PULSE

Client Profile:  A Fortune 500 Strategic Outsourcing Global Account Team in the Financial Services Industry with headquarters in Munich, Germany.  The Global Account Team is comprised of over 2,500 people in 70+ countries.  The team faces a dynamic client environment as well as cultural, time zone and professional challenges as they focus on achieving ambitious goals.

Opportunity:  The Senior Executive leading the Global Account Team had the vision to create a multi-media communications strategy.  She knew this was a critical effort that would have a direct impact on the success of one of the most important and challenging company-wide efforts. It was imperative to get people engaged and motivated in achieving ambitious goals. I was hired to make that vision a reality.

Idea:  As part of the Global Account Team Leadership Team, I conceptualized and launched a multi-media communications strategy which included physical communications tools.  The central idea was to design a social media website which required building and leading a high-performance team across continents to execute on it.  The vision was to design an innovative website with the "look and feel" and ease of navigation of a Digital Magazine which we named The Pulse.  We chose the "look and feel" of a Digital Magazine because we were competing for attention with over 300K internal "social media" sites and our goal was to capture the imagination and participation of the Global Account Team.

The results attained were extraordinary:

  • Measurably increased team engagement over a six-month period because there was
    • exchange of multiple new ideas, professional, and personal experiences
    • engagement of 2,500+ employees in 70+ countries as "one team" on complex issues
    • establishment of deeper and more trusted communications
  • The Pulse continues to be the central point for information and engagement as the global account team continues to grow in size and geographic scope

Here is a photo of a preliminary version of the logo I designed for The Pulse, representing how communications and engagement are at the heart of business success.
